Lotto 6/49
The Turkish National Lottery Administration was formed in 1889 and has been offering their flagship Piyango Lotto game since 1890. The game is one of many offered by the Turkish National Lottery Administration, including the Turkey Super Lotto game, Sans Topu, On Numara and Sayisal, though the Piyango Lotto game is still one of their most popular games.
The Piyango Lotto game is played every Saturday and is a traditional style lottery game meaning that you pick numbers rather than participating in a raffle, like the Spanish Christmas Lottery.
Game Type
The initial lottery jackpot for the Turkish Piyango Lotto game is TL1,300,000 (about $750,000). The jackpot is a progressive one however and is rolled over each week that no one wins, meaning that your potential jackpot can be much larger depending on when you happen to play the Piyango Lotto game.
The game is, as noted above, a traditional lottery game which requires you to pick six numbers out of a possible 49 in order to win the jackpot. However, unlike many other modern lottery games, there is no secondary number required, meaning that the odds of winning are much better than for some other lottery games.
Other Prizes
Like most other lottery games, there are a number of secondary prizes, including second, third and fourth prizes for those who get 5, 4 or 3 numbers correct respectively.
Participating
As with most modern lottery games, the Turkish Piyango Lotto game is also able to be played by using a quick pick feature which allows you to have the computer pick the numbers for you. However, you may not want to do so since the most common number to come up in the jackpot is 38 and the least common number to appear in any Piyango Lotto jackpot number is 43.
The game is open to both Turkish residents and non Turks who purchase a ticket via one of the many sites on the Internet that specialize in selling lottery tickets. One doesn’t even need to have ever set foot inside of Turkey to win the game since these sites will automatically claim your prize for you and will even arrange to transfer the money directly to your bank account.
Odds of Winning
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 13,980,000 which the odds of winning the second prize are 1 in 54,201 and the third prize has odds of just 1 in 1,032. Fourth prize odds are 1 in 57. The largest jackpot ever offered was TL6,856,757.35 by the way and it was award in April, 2008 to one lucky ticket holder.
